TREND TALK | How to wear Lilac

Lilac is slowly but surely becoming THE trend color of this spring/summer season. The color definitely already had a big moment two years ago, but is back for sure.

I slowly starting to see Lilac everywhere. On my Instagram feed, on every blog, etc. After thinking about it more and more I decided to write everything down and give you not only my opinion but also a little guide on how to wear lilac. I never considered lilac as a color I like to wear. As you know I’m more about the basic shades like blue, grey, beige, black and white. However I’m starting to love pastel colors more and more especially for spring and summer.

How to style Lilac

Combining lilac is actually pretty easy. It goes perfect with all the neutral tones in the wardrobe like creme, white, beige, grey, black and so on. It also looks lovely in combination with other pastel colors like baby blue, baby pink or even baby green.

It can also be perfect for a color blocking look. As you can see in the pictures the color also looks stunning with yellow and orange. However that’s definitely a combo for the brave fashionistas out there. For a more casual way you can perfectly style it with denim.

For example you can combine a lilac silk midi skirt with a white crop top and sneakers oder slingbacks. Sneakers for daytime and heels for nighttime. As a jacket I would go for a beige blazer to make the look more classic and elegant or a blue or washed-out black denim jacket for a more chilled look. Totally depending on the vibe you want to create with the whole outfit. 

When we think about a top or shirt in the color I would combine it with a white or light blue jeans for an easy daytime look. For an more edgy, but classy evening look I would go for black leather pants or a leather mini skirt in combination with an oversized black blazer and black kitten heels. 

For an edgy version of styling the color I would combine the pieces with dark edgy pieces like some black chunky boots and maybe a black belt or bag.
